Day 2 - NE, CO, UT

Got to start my day in Eastern Nebraska, and I was able to drive next to the Poop Guy for a while.

If you've never driven through Nebraska, it looks like this:

But don't blink ... It's only perfectly straight, perfectly flat, with very few signs of civilization FOR 300 MILES.

In an effort to get as far as possible today, I only had one stop planned: The Colorado College of Mines.  I really wanted to get some Oredigger Merch.  Unfortunately I didn't do my research, and the bookstore was closed on weekends 😡.

The views on the drive through Western Colorado were amazing. You can Google "photos of Western Colorado" and you'll get a pretty good idea of what I saw (I tested it ... the Google search works!)

Although the mountains were spectacular, upon closer inspection, they are basically just big piles of dirt and rocks. When you think of it that way, they get old sort of quick.

Once I got into Utah the sun was starting to set. Sunset seemed to last an hour because of how far into the horizon you could see. But once it got dark, it was DARK.  Seriously ... There are no cities in Utah.

Throughout this voyage, I have been wearing my pendant of St. Piotr, the patron saint of public restrooms. He's definitely been watching over me the last couple of days.

Wrapped up my day by checking into the Super 8 in Salina, Utah.  Which was just about exactly what you would expect the Super 8 in Salina, Utah to be. Which means, it was a little worse than the Best Western in Council Bluffs.
